Many builders claim to be energy efficient; at Brooks Custom Homes we prove it. We are an Energy Star builder and meet or exceed all guidelines set by the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA).

Energy Star qualified homes are at least 30% more energy efficient than homes built to national energy code. At Brooks Custom Homes we use verified third party on-site inspections and diagnostic testing.

The program begins with a Home Energy Rating System (HERS). This evaluates your home plans and specifications to pinpoint specific cost-effective improvements needed to qualify for the Energy Star label.

Next is an on-site insulation inspection. The home is meticulously inspected to make sure all air infiltration points are sealed and blocked, and the insulation is installed properly.

The final stage is the duct blaster and blower door test, which ensures that the home is working efficiently when complete. Brooks Custom Homes and the Energy Star program treat the home as a system. The components of windows, insulation, heating and air conditioning, structural tightness, and interior exhaust systems are all certified to meet stringent requirements.

Brooks Custom Homes are built tighter which defers heat transfer from attics, drafts, noise, dust, and pollen. Energy Star homes also improve indoor air quality with tightly sealed ducts to keep out mold, radon, and carbon monoxide.
